Time to be Me!

Hi again,

Just thought I would drop by and put up a couple of scrapbook pages like I promised. Michael is away at the moment so I have just put the rubbish bin out which means I have time to myself as the kids are in bed as well.

In these scrapbook pages our assignment was not only to use a picture of ourselves but to also not journal about what we were doing in the picture. We were to journal about the inside part of ourselves. We had to share something about ourselves that not many people know. It could be funny, sentimental, thoughtful, provocative etc.

It was about the time that our new friend Ruth came to our scrap night and was very generous and gave me a kit to do a page. It fitted in so well with this assignment. Thanks Ruth for the great gift. I hope that you like the pages.

I am looking forward to our next scrap night.
Thanks for stopping by, see you here again soon.

Stamping Club Projects for May

Hope everyone is having a great week. I just wanted to do a quick post of what I have been up to this week. As you know I go and visit the lovely Claire Daly once a month for stamp club. (Don’t forget to check out her blog her cards and scrapbook pages are amazing) She is very generous with her time as I am unable to meet on the evenings that the club is held she lets me come during the day on a Wednesday the same week as the evening group meet. We have great 1 on 1 time and we even had great soup for lunch this week, Claire’s homemade pea and ham soup. I love soup! Each month a new lady is the hostess and we each buy supplies of $50 and the hostess get a level 1 hostess gift out of the Stampin’ Up catalogue. It is like having a party in your own home but you get to do it for 6 months with new projects to learn. Great fun. Well this month I was the hostess and man the ladies were really generous. They bought enough product so that I was able to get a level 2 hostess gift and $70 free stuff. I will show you the goodies when they arrive. O.K. back to the projects for this month designed by Claire:

We made a Friendly Words Jumbo wheel card. Looks great!

We made a card using the Friends 24/7 stamp set with the Cracked Glass technique. If you look carefully you will think that you are looking at the bird through cracked glass/window.

We also made C6 Card Folder which allows you to have 4 cards and envelopes in it so you can give them away as little gifts.

Here is an envelope that I stamped on as well to match the cards that I had made. The envelopes are so great to stamp on. Sorry the photo is a bit blurred I think I need photography lessons.

Yesterday was open day at Sarah's school. Here she is getting ready to go into the Multi Purpose Room with the Junior Choir. It is made up from children in Prep, Grade 1 and 2. As Sarah is in grade 2 she gets to stand in the back line which is funny as the grade 1 kids are taller than she is and so are most of the Preps. This was the best photo that you could see her in, when she was inside it was a bit harder to get a good photo. They have only been rehearsing for 3 weeks and they did a fantastic job.

Well I must get back to making a card for my niece. She had a baby girl on Saturday. Mia Rose, 6lb 7 oz, tiny little girl.

See you soon. Thanks for stopping by.

My Mother's Day

Well it is Monday not Friday, sorry I didn’t get to post up on Friday as I had intended but the ever present Migraine hit with a vengeance on Thursday morning while sleeping (woke me up) and just got worse during the day. Still today I am under the cloud but I can work a little with the help of pain killers. I really should take out shares in the company.

As I mentioned last post I was going to show you what I did on Mother’s Day. Jonathan had an assignment for Food tech where he had to cook a 2 course meal. Well I thought what better time than Mother’s Day where he had plenty of time and I didn’t have to cook. It was a lovely meal of roast capsicum and tomato soup, fennel encrusted pork with baked parsnip and apple and he also did a dessert, a fruit parfait. Here are some photos’ of him cooking. He had to have evidence that he actually cooked. The meal was really yummy he did a fabulous job. I just helped him with some of his timing things. Do this job while you wait for this part to cook etc. He did all the rest, he quite the budding cook.

The start of the adventure, cutting the capsicums in half to roast in the oven.

Cutting up onion, not one of my favourite jobs and I am not an onion fan anyway. Glad it was Jonathan and not me.

We couldn't find ground fennel so for a present for Mother's day I got this lovely mortar and pestle. I have always wanted one.

Using the boat motor as it is affectionately called is lots of fun. Makes the soup lovely and smooth as well.

The finished results of the soup.

The Pork!

The lovely fruit parfait.

So While Jonathan cooked I finished off my last 2 weeks of the journaling course I was doing. The journaling course went for 12 weeks and helped you explore all different ways of journaling your scrapbooking pages. (I will show more of the ideas in later posts) These 2 pages that you see are the result of having to use creative story telling journaling. Of course not a long novel but more like a children’s story with a couple of lines per photo. It took me a while to work out what photos to use and then I looked at the photos of the kids while we were in Tassie in January. Jonathan loves man ferns so Michael thought we would go and show the kids one of our childhood’s great walks through Notley Fern Gorge just 30-40 minutes from Launceston. It is a simple page but I think it looks o.k.

I cut the title using the craft robo using comic sans font (Jonathan’s favourite) in the new creative memories colour brick. The rest of the papers and card stock are either from Creative Memories or Stampin’ up and you can’t get them any more. Yes I am actually using some of the stash I have sitting in the spare bedroom or as I like to call it “My Room” Anyway I also used a sponge and some matching ink around the edge of the writing. If you read the story without the photos you would think I am a little weird but it was part of the challenge for this week.

Right Hand Page

This page of Sarah cooking was for the final week of the journaling course: Sequential photo journaling. It is a great way to get lots of photos on a 1 or 2 pages. My brother David had sent Sarah a cupcake kit for Christmas so we were making our first batch. Sarah had a great time and we took photo’s to send to David. Yet again another simple page but I think it works o.k.

The background page is creative memories but of course it is the old 12x12. They haven’t bought out all the colours in the new 12x12 size yet and the pink is Stampin’ Up’s pretty in pink card stock which you can still get. I really liked the idea of highlighting a couple of words to bring out some of the emotions behind the day.

Hope you enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by to check out what I have been up to. See you soon.

My First Post

Hello my friends,

Welcome to my first post. I have been thinking for a while about doing a blog and posting up some of my crafty musings. I get so much inspiration from other lovely crafters so I thought I might share some of those inspirations with you.

Today I have for you a baby card that I made for the latest arrival at church. I found this card on line at a blog by Lauren Meader. Check out her blog for the instructions.

I hope that you like it. I think it is rather cute.

Well I will be back on Friday with a scrapbook page that I did on Mother's day. I haven't taken a picture of it yet.

Have a Great Day.
